Pre-Discharge Education: The Second Certificate

After you have filed for bankruptcy, you must complete an approved financial course. You have the choice of attending an in-person live workshop or completing this course online.

Live workshops are offered in Menasha. Call FISC at 920-886-1000 or 800-366-8161 for course locations and times.

Fees for the in-person or the online workshop are $25 per person payable in advance by cash, money order or credit card. There is no additional fee associated with generation of the certificate. We will waive the fee if the client’s household current income is less than 150% of the poverty guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the authority of 42 U.S.C. 9902(2), as adjusted from time to time, for a household or family of the size involved in the fee determination. No one is turned away if they cannot pay. If you believe you qualify for the fee waiver, please call our office at 800-366-8161 to have your income verified by a consumer credit counselor. You may be required to submit last year’s taxes and you last four paystubs. Verification may take up to two business days. If you take the in-person workshop you will be asked to show us a picture ID. We will need your bankruptcy case number to fill in your Certificate of Completion, so please give us this number when you register for the course. You will receive your Certificate of Completion after you complete the workshop.

Interpreters provided upon request for non-English speakers and the hearing impaired at no cost.

P. Spaeth has a Bachelor of Science Degree, is certified as a Consumer Credit Counselor by the NFCC and has 10 years of experience in this field.

T. Horner has an Associate Degree, is certified as a Consumer Credit Counselor by the NFCC and has 19 years of experience in this field.

We do not receive or pay any referral fee for the referral of students to us.

When students successfully complete this course, we have an obligation to promptly give you a Certificate of Completion. 

We do not disclose information about students, except as required. For example, we may share information with the United States Trustee during their oversight, investigation of a complaint, during on-site visits, or if required during a quality of service review.

The United States Trustee has reviewed only the agency’s credit counseling services (Pre-Filing Bankruptcy counseling) and the debtor education (Post-Filing Bankruptcy) course and the fact that the United States Trustee has neither reviewed nor approved any other services the agency provides to clients.

A debtor/student will only receive a certificate if the debtor/student completes an instructional course.
