Money Smart Week Fox Cities is offering free events for community members.

On Sunday, April 22, from noon until 5 p.m. is the Financial Literacy Free Day at The Building for Kids Children’s Museum, 100 W. College Ave., downtown Appleton. Children will learn the basics of financial literacy through interactive play.

There also will be a story time at 1 and 3 p.m. featuring the book “Those Shoes” by Maribeth Boelts that is designed for kids ages 3-8. Each child who attends will receive a free copy of the book, while supplies last. Admission to the museum and all activities is free. Seating is limited. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Money Smart Week Fox Cities is also offering three free financial workshops. On Tuesday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Menasha Public Library is “Investment Fundamentals.” On Wednesday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaukauna Public Library is “Making the Most of Social Security.” On Thursday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Appleton Public Library is “Retirement.” To learn more, visit

Money Smart Week (April 21-28) is a national public awareness campaign created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002 that is designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.
